⚡ Electrical Requirements for Simply Soft Play Limited Equipment
We want your inflatable fun to be bouncy — not sparky.
To keep everything safe, reliable, and party-ready, please read the guidance below before your event.
📏 Quick Summary
- Inflatable blowers must be within 50 metres of a mains power supply
- We do not supply generators 🚫⛽
- A suitable RCD-protected mains socket is required 🛡️
- We supply RCD protection and test the socket being used on setup
🔌 Power Location & Distance
Inflatable equipment must be powered from a standard mains socket located within 50 metres of the blower.
This distance is measured along the actual cable route (not in a straight line).
If the cable run exceeds 50 metres, it may cause:
- Reduced blower performance
- Electrical overload risk
- A “soft” (literally) and unsafe inflatable
🚫 Generators & Alternative Power
We do not supply generators, and they must not be used with our inflatables.
Generators can produce unstable voltage, which may damage equipment or create safety risks. For this reason, they are not permitted under our hire terms.
Please ensure a reliable mains power source is available at your venue.
🔌 Socket, Circuit & Power Requirements
Most blowers operate from a standard 13A single-phase socket.
Where possible, the socket should be:
- On a dedicated circuit
- Protected by an RCD (Residual Current Device)
- In good working condition
If multiple inflatables are being used, ensure the total electrical load does not exceed the circuit capacity to avoid tripping.
⚠️ Inflatable blowers must not be used on multi-socket extension blocks shared with other appliances.
🧰 Cables & On-Site Safety
For safe installation, we ensure:
- Outdoor-rated extension cables are used
- All cables are fully unwound before use
- Cables are routed away from play areas wherever possible
- Cable ramps are used where cables must cross walkways or access paths 🚧
- All equipment is secured to reduce trip hazards
✔️ Before Your Event
Please check the following in advance:
- A mains power socket is available within 50 metres 📏
- The socket is accessible on the day of hire
- The socket is in good working order
- You can provide access instructions if the socket is not obvious
We will also test the power supply and ensure RCD protection is in place during setup.
🎉 Safety First, Fun Always
Follow these simple requirements and your inflatables will run safely, smoothly, and reliably — keeping the fun going and the spark safely in the socket.
If you’re unsure about anything, it’s always best to check with us before the event.
